When foam dressings are used
Foam suits pressure injuries, leg ulcers, and other moderate-to-heavily exuding wounds. Bordered (adhesive) foam holds in place on intact skin; non-bordered foam is secured with a retention dressing and is gentler for fragile skin.
How long can a foam dressing stay on? Depending on exudate, many foam dressings can remain in place for up to several days — change when strike-through appears or per clinical advice.
